The Listening Archive is a project focused on the creation of a kit-based experience. The package includes a complex form of printed media, and three promotional components. These elements, as well as the container crafted to hold them, was developed as a fully-realized physical experience.
The Listening Archive is a concept based on a subscription service to analog music content. With the rise in physical media, specifically for music, The Listening Archive ships monthly boxes for different forms of analog music. The box would contain items like 8 track tapes, cassettes, vinyl records, CDs, etc. This mockup kit would focus in on the first box a subscriber would receive after signing up for this service.
The goal The Listening Archive is to create a nostalgic and informative experience about the art of physical music. The box will include 3 different forms of physical music (vinyl, cassette, and CD), a CD case, and collectible themed guitar picks. These artifacts, along with a printed booklet inspired by 80s and 90s design, will lead the audience though an engaging and entertaining introduction into the world of physical music.
