The Listening Archive is a concept based on a subscription service to analog music content. With the rise in physical media, specifically for music, The Listening Archive ships monthly boxes for different forms of analog music. This could contain items like 8 track tapes, cassettes, vinyl records, CDs, etc. This example kit would focus in on the first box a subscriber would receive after signing up for this service Each month, The Listening Archive curates a selection of physical music media designed to lead the audience on an engaging experience into the world of tangible music.

The Listening Archive is geared toward anyone who has an interest in exploring the realm of physical music media. With the goal of educating new members of this community, and engage seasoned veterans for physical music. 



The Listening Archive’s goal is to lead the consumer on an immersive physical experience where they will rediscover the magic behind unwrapping CDs, flipping through album art, and handling mediums like vinyl records, cassettes, and 8 track tapes.  Whether you’re reliving cherished memories or discovering the joy of physical music for the first time, our subscription box is your gateway to a whole new world of sound.






ZINE &
PACKAGING

Each spread from the informational zine pairs with a matching package and guitar pic for the digital media format, . The correlating elements create visual consistency through color, and illustrated motifs while the halftone patterns create retro feel that The Listening Archive is built around. 
The zine seeks to educate first time subscribers to the basics and history of popular digital media formats. The zine moves chronologically, starting at vinyls, and eventually touching on how music developed into modern streaming platforms, and why people are going back. 

The CD packaging color scheme was derived from the way light looks when it refracts off the back of CD. The spiral packaging is inspired by the circular nature of the discs, and creates a interactive feature for customers to unfurl and expereince. 


GUITAR PICKS
& CD CASE

Each guitar pick is crafted from laser cut acrylic, and designed to match a digital media format. One side showcases motifs from the zine spreads, while the other shows a simple color variant of the logo

The CD Case is the final item within The Listening Archive starter package. The branded case provides a place for subscribers to continue to store CDs and media that come with future edition of The Listening Archive.
